SHAWN W. DALY

Shawn was the rock of the West Hartford RTC for over five years ,and was a main reason so many current members became involved in local politics. He was always fair, a voice of reason, and a source of unity. He was not just our leader, but a mentor, a friend, and a truly remarkable man. Shawn left an indelible mark on our organization and on the town he cared so deeply about. His leadership, dedication, and friendship will never be forgotten, and we will work to carry forward the example he set. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones and will continue to keep them in our thoughts during this incredibly difficult time. He will be sorely missed.

Obituary

Shawn W. Daly, 59, of West Hartford, passed away on July 15, 2026, in Hartford, Connecticut. He was born on March 13, 1967, in Downey, California, son of Mary Ganzag and John Daly, and raised by his grandparents, Katharina Ganzag and John Elliott. Shawn was the beloved husband of Eileen C. Daly and the cherished father of Shannon M. Daly. He was deeply devoted to them and held a special place in the lives of his wonderful brother and sister-in-law, Shane E. Daly and Krystal L. Miarecki, as well as his nieces and nephew, Kaylee Arzt, Caitlyn Daly, Michaela Daly, and Tyler Daly. He is also lovingly remembered by his sisters, Erica, Kelly-Jo, and Lacey. Those who knew Shawn will remember him as loving, funny, and generous, qualities that shaped the way he cared for his family and the way he met the world each day. A graduate of Conard High School, Shawn went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Connecticut and later received an MBA from Excelsior University in Albany, New York, with a focus on managing in the global economy. After 30 years of experience in the retirement industry, where he provided retirement solutions to retirement institutions and consultants, Shawn joined MassMutual, where he served as the Head of DC Experience and Product Management for MMLIS. All who knew and worked with Shawn respected him for his knowledge, his leadership, and his ability to work with integrity and purpose. Shawn believed in service, responsibility, and community involvement, and he gave generously of his time and talents to many organizations. Since 2021, he had chaired the West Hartford Republican Town Committee, and he also served as a member of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, and as President of the West Hartford Girls Basketball League. He was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus 3600, a role that reflected his commitment to faith and fellowship. In addition, he previously served on the Board of West Hartford's Girls Soccer League, on the Tournament Executive Committee for the Travelers Championship, and as a member of the West Hartford Environmental and Conservation Commission. He was also a former Jaycee Chapter and Foundation member, and a Jaycee statesman, continuing throughout his life to support the causes and communities he cared about. Shawn will be remembered with deep affection, not only for his accomplishments, but for the genuine care he showed to others. His memory will continue to bring comfort and inspiration to his family, friends, and all who knew him. Calling hours will be Thursday, July 23, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 872 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford.
